The 2024 Gordon Gore Prize is awarded to Ms. Jessica Hohner of Imagine High Integrated Arts and Technology Secondary School in Chilliwack, BC.
Dr. Gordon Gore was an incredible force and inspiration in science teaching and learning in British Columbia. He affected the lives of thousands of students and teachers through his physics textbooks, inspirational science teaching, demonstrations that he created, and, through his legacy with the BIG Little Science Centre in Kamloops. The Gordon Gore Prize for Excellence in Science Teaching is awarded annually to commemorate Dr. Gore.
According to her students and colleagues, Ms. Hohner is a dynamic and creative teacher who incorporates hands-on activities, place-based learning and project-based methods to engage her students. Her passion extends beyond her classroom through science outreach, promoting science to younger students and actively sharing resources and opportunities with colleagues.
