Host: Prof. Marina Milner-Bolotin

Title:  Fantastic Science Professional Development Opportunities for STEM Teachers

Zoom: email Prof. Marina Milner-Bolotin for more info.

Date & Time: Tuesday, October 8th, 5:30 pm PST

Description:  Science teachers are fortunate that major research institutes around the world dedicate part of their time and funding to providing high quality professional development (Pro-D) opportunities for teachers.  Through these workshops, teachers not only become more knowledgeable about new developments in science, but can build a network of like-minded educators, get inspired by the research facilities themselves and see new parts of the world.   This interactive presentation will explore many of these opportunities, both here in BC and beyond.

Bio: Joe Muise (UBC, BEd 2004) has taught Physics in Burnaby for 20 years.  In that time, he has been fortunate to attend workshops hosted by LIGO, CERN, the Perimeter Institute among others.   This past year he travelled to Antarctica as part of National Geographic & Lindblad Expeditions Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship.  He is always looking for new applications of physics to bring to his classes!
