As the year of 2010 is coming to an end we all reflect on what happened during the past year and are thinking of what is going to happen in 2011. BCAPT had a very busy and exciting year of 2010. We held a number of successful events: a May Meeting at Langara College, an October PD Day in collaboration with TRIUMF, Participated in the Catalyst conference of BC Science Teachers, our members attended National AAPT meetings in Washington DC and in Portland Oregon. Our BCAPT list is booming with exciting ideas and thoughtful answers to our questions. Our Executive Board started using Skype for monthly meetings, which made it much more efficient and less time consuming. However, we also had some challenges, we would like to see more young physics teachers join the list and attend our events, we would like to see new blood in the BCAPT Executive Board (we will be working on defining the tasks, such as it is going to be clear what each EB member will be required to do), we would like to engage physics teachers all across the province and not just in the Lower Mainland. These are our challenges for 2011. On the bright side, we have a number very exciting events plan. At the beginning of February, Dr. David Sokoloff, AAPT incoming president will be visiting Vancouver with a number of presentations and workshops (we will announce the details soon), in March we are participating in the Physics Olympics at UBC, then we are planning a meeting in May to be held at UBC Okanagan in Kelowna, and towards the end of the year we will be participating in BC Brightests Minds Competition. All in all we are expecting a very productive year. We hope to have more members joining us in 2011 and we will you all prosperity, health, happiness and continuing success in teaching physics! Happy Holidays!
