More than 800 physics educators from all over the world (including our fellow Canadians) came to Jacksonville Florida to attend the Winter 2011 AAPT meeting. While you might think that their major motivation to come down to Florida in January is to escape harsh winter (at least for some of us who live up North), it appears that what mainly drives people to attend AAPT Winter meetings is to fulfill the New Year’s resolution to become better physics teachers and to share with each other innovative ideas about how to make physics learning more exciting and meaningful for our studnets. The meeting is taking place from January 8-12 and we will have a great number of exciting sessions, including a special theatre production about Maria Curie (“Manya”) and many other activities.
Attending AAPT National Meetings is an amazing opportunity and I hope that more Canadians will be able to do that in the future.
The next meeting will take place in Omaha Nebraska in the Summer of 2011 and in Ontario, California in the winter of 2012.
