Gordon Gore Prize for Excellence in Science Teaching Nominations are now open!
Dr. Gordon Gore (1937-2020) was an incredible force and inspiration in science teaching and learning in British Columbia. He affected the lives of thousands of students and teachers through his physics textbooks, inspirational teaching, demonstrations that he created, and, through his legacy with the BIG Little Science Centre in Kamloops. Dr. Gore’s passing leaves a big hole in the BC physics teaching community and in our hearts. To commemorate Dr. Gore, the BC Association of Physics Teachers has established the Gordon Gore Prize for Excellence in Science Teaching. The prize is generously co-sponsored by Edvantage Interactive, the publisher of Dr. Gore’s books.
The BCAPT is seeking nominees for the 2024 Gordon Gore Prize, and we need your help! Full nomination details can be found in the document below. Importantly, this prize is not only for physics, but for science teachers, so we need your help in getting the information out to your colleagues teaching K-12 science throughout British Columbia!
Thank you,
Simin Bagheri Najmi (BCAPT President)
